Here is a solid English bird gun by a good maker. It is a boxlock non-ejector from the late 1880’s, built by Gallyon & Son. The 30″ Damascus barrels are nitro re-proved. The chambers are 2 1/2″ and the bores are excellent and shiny, choked .000/.014. The action locks up tight with a doll’s head extension. The receiver features the maker’s name and minimal engraving. The walnut stock is solid with minor marks, but no chips or cracks. The fore-end is off the pull-off variety. The stock measures 1 1/2″ x 2 1/16″ x 14 5/8″ over a 3/8″ pad with cast off. The gun weighs 6 lbs 9 oz, and is ready for bird season. A fine and very usable English double.
