Here is a fine English boxlock non-ejector in excellent condition, by Hardy Bros. of Alnwick, a pleasant little town in North Northumberland. (I’ve passed it many times on the train to Edinburgh, and finally decided to spend a day there a couple of years ago. Well worth it.) In any case, this gun has 28″ barrels with 2 1/2″ chambers and excellent bores, choked .006/.032 (about skeet and full). The action locks up tight as can be, and the receiver still shows lots of case colors, and has border engraving along with the maker’s name. The rib is engraved: HARDY BROS. LTD ALNWICK. The fore-end is of the pull-off variety. The stock is attractive English walnut, and measures 1 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ x 14 3/4″ over a grooved butt with very slight cast off. The weight is 6 lbs 11 oz. A solid and versatile English bird gun, ready for the field.
