A fine English 10 gauge single-barreled hammergun by T. Page Wood. The nitro proved Damascus barrel is 34 1/2″ with 3″ chamber and excellent bore, with cylinder choke. The barrel is faceted at the breech end, and has a 2″ sight flat. It is engraved: T. P. WOOD MAKER. 35 NICHOLAS ST. BRISTOL. The gun locks up tight, has a carved percussion fence, and has a Jones patent under-lever. The lock plate has the maker’s name in a flowing banner. The lock is non-rebounding. The fore-end has a horn tip, and a keyed release. The walnut stock is solid with crisp checkering, and measures 14 5/8″ over a grooved ebonite butt. The weight is 7 lbs 9 oz. I enjoy hunting with classic single shots, and this one is a dandy. It is nitro proved for 3″ at 3 1/2″ tons per square inch, and is ready for pheasant, ducks or geese.
