A wonderful little single barrel non-ejector, weighing only 5 lbs 2 oz. 30″ ribless barrel with a 2 1/2″ chamber, choked .022 (approximately modified.) Faceted breech. The barrel is engraved: WILLIAM EVANS. (FROM PURDEY’S) 63 PALL MALL. ST JAMES’S. LONDON. Bushed and removable firing pin. Border and acanthus scroll engraving. The fore-end is of the pull-off variety, and has a horn tip. The stock measures 1 ½” x 2” x 14 7/8″ with neutral cast. I knocked down a pheasant with it the other day, a big wild-flushing bird that crumpled before I realized I had shot. It’s hard to imagine a classier gun for ruffed grouse or woodcock.
