Beautiful, Jones patent under-lever hammergun by William Griffiths of Manchester. The 30″ Nitro-proved Damascus barrels have 2 1/2″ chambers. They are choked .013/.025 (approximately IC/M). The gun locks up tight, and the rebounding locks function crisply. The action is very distinctive, with carved percussion fences, excellent game scene vignettes surrounded by acanthus scroll engraving, and unusual stepped sidelock extensions (see photos.) The trademark Griffiths dog is engraved on the trigger guard bow. (Please see the Griffiths boxlock for comparison). The gun weighs 6 lbs 13 oz. The wood is attractive, figured French walnut, and the stock measures 1 1/2″ x 1 3/4″ x 14 3/8″ over a checkered butt with engraved heel and toe plates. The cast is close to neutral. A wonderful classic bird gun.
