A really lovely boxlock ejector by William Palmer Jones. The nitro-proved barrels are 30″ with 2 1/2″ chambers, choked .016/.040 (about improved cylinder and full). On the rib is engraved: W. P. JONES PATENTEE 25 WHITALL ST BIRMINGHAM, and WINNER AT THE FIELD TRIALS. LONDON. The action features side-clips and a Greener-style side safety. The receiver has excellent game scene engraving: on one side a pointer with pheasants, and, on the other, a setter with grouse. The bolstered fore-end has a push-button release. The figured stock has checkered side panels and a Prince of Wales grip, and measures 1 ¾” x 2 ¾” x 14 ¾” over an ebonite butt with neutral cast. The weight is 6 lbs 8 oz. An unusual and pretty gun.
